Green building is the most familiar and important term for the future, estimated by the current scenario. As we know that nowadays global warning increasing day by day, if it will increase at the same pace then it will reach at peak very rapidly which is a very critical situation for us. We have to think because it is directly related to our future.

Green building is one of the concepts which will help us. It is also known as ‘Sustainable Building’ or ‘Green Construction’ or ‘Green Architecture’. It tends to eliminate or reduce the negative impact on the environment and create a positive impact. It is the way to improve life quality and preservation of natural resources which is very beneficial for us. There are several features which help a building to become ‘Green’ or ‘Sustainable’ which are:

Usage of water, energy and other resources efficiently.

Usage of ethical and Non-toxic materials.

Reduction in the amount of waste and pollution.

Environmental consideration in the design and construction.

Sustainable Building

Green Building Rating System it is very precious for any green building it is a tool which helps to evaluate the performance of sustainable and green building. It has aim to provide environmental and economical benefits to the building. There are three major rating system which is use mostly in India.

LEED: Leadership in Energy and Environment Design is a green building certification program that recognizes top-notch building techniques and practices. It also used all over the world. It was the Indian Green Business Center, under the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). The Indian Green Building Council, which had adopted the LEED framework.

SVA-GRIHA: Simple Versatile Affordable-Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment. Created by TERI and embraced by the Indian Government in 2007, it serves to carry out a subjective and quantitative evaluation and appropriately rate a building on its level of ‘Greenness’.

IGBC: Indian Green Building Council is part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and formed in the year 2001. The vision of this is, “To empower a sustainable built environment for all and encourage India to be one of the worldwide pioneers within the sustainable built environment by 2025”.

Benefits of Green Building: It provides several benefits to a person or an organization. Going green is beneficial for both occupants and environment.
